This exhibition at Centro Nacional de Cultura, Lisbon, shows a world populated of people. Instead of indifference, the painter prefers questioning the sigularities. Perplexity is, after all, an attempt to overcome the barriers of doubt and misunderstanding. The idea of wait signifies this attempt, this demand – between memory and attention to the present. And the viewer of this painting is finding new reasons to discover the signs of the time. In the indifference and anonymity, Sofia opposes human uniqueness, a certain form of artistic vitalism in which the key is to meet the being who lives, whose existence works as a mirror of our own existence.
